  ’’ That Something Is You ‘’

 If alone I should go walking
The moon gives me a chill
That certain something is missing
That tiny, tingling thrill

 If I should go out riding by
My lonesome, let us say
The brightly colored aqua sky
Turns a misty gray

 Every single thing I do
When you’re not near, it seems
Makes everything so lifeless,
A far cry from my dreams

 But with your hand in mine
And my heart upon my vest
I know you are the SOMETHING
That makes my life the best!

‘’ It Can’t Be True ‘’

 I don’t care what you tell me
Even though you say it’s true
You can’t be another day older
I don’t even have a clue

 You’ve worked like a woman possessed
A’ packing and a’ sorting and yet
You look just simply marvelous
With or without my glasses yet

 Please take care and rest awhile
And I know it’s never easy
But smile a lot and folks will ask
How does she stay, so young and breezy!

‘’ When I Get Back ‘’

 When I get back, I want you to know
Be it summer or time for snow
There’ll be things I want to do
Things I’m sure you’ll want, too

 Our Thursday evenings all alone
We won’t even answer the phone
In a spot that we call home
Something special, our very own

 A dinner date at our place
You all dressed in silk and lace
A night to see a movie or/and
Listening to our favorite band

 A waltz upon a cloud
Can’t you see that I’m in love?
We’ll go out dancing, I might add
Your partner’s not good nor bad

 I like to visit, you know, too
The Z’s and Houbas, just a few
Then home to bed and peaceful rest
A climax to the day I like best!

‘’ The Hankie ‘’

 While on a tour of the city
I stopped in at a Macy’s store
To buy you a gift that was pretty
A trinket I thought you’d adore

 I hunted around for an hour
But my efforts were all for naught
I would have given you a diamond
If I hadn’t got myself caught

 So be content with this hankie
It’s the best that I could find
You needn’t give out with a ‘’Thankie ‘’
Because I know it’s on your mind!

‘’ Can You Remember ‘’

 Can you remember that far back
45 years ago this day?
When we pledged to love forever
And happiness was here to stay

 We’ve worked so hard together
To raise our family
It hasn’t been an easy road
We managed through tenacity

 So many things have happened
The good ones and the sad
But we are both survivors
More good times than the bad

 The road that lies before us
I pray is level and still
So we can enjoy each other
For years that are tranquil!

But I can’t recall just when

Since they seem to pass you by

 Each time my heart goes flying home
I always tag along
To bring you my devotion and
Love’s old tender song

 I find you sitting and waiting
As though you know I’m near
Looking like a picture

Those whispers in the dark
The many things we planned

 But all these things must end
So I hear them say
I guess that still holds true
Forever and a day

 My heart and I return and
Quite saddened, it is true

‘’ I’m Thankful for the Memories ‘’

 You brought Heaven to Earth
The day you married me
All the years of tender love
That you made for me to see

 A lifetime of devotion we shared
Blessed from the very start
A closeness like no other one
With two beating as one heart

As one until that final day
After a wonderful life together
Until you were called away

‘’ Our Blue Room ‘’

 We called it our blue room
Our corner of the sky
For it was very pretty and
Belonged to you and I

 Our very first apartment
Up near Heaven’s door
Complete with every furnishing
Plus the girl that I adore

 It really did have everything
Our heavenly, little room
A nice big bed, venetian blinds
And even love in bloom

 The view from our haven
Was only sort of fair
But it was just like Heaven
Because it had you there!

‘’ A Proud Future ‘’

 I often sit and wonder how
Things will go a few months from now
Whether you’ll feel good and strong
Or look enchanting in a sarong

 I know your dresses won’t fit just right
‘Cause your second front will make them ’em tight
You won’t eat sweets or cake or candy
But to me, you look quite dandy

 Your upper portions have roundly filled in
Where the heck have those two been?
You weigh yourself each and every night
Like a fighter before a big fight

 But you’ll take care with me by your side
What you’ve got, it’s a shame to hide!
